As the internet becomes increasingly popular and everyone now has a youtube channel. Many struggle to come up with unique ways to promote their music online. "Not everyone is being creative enough to take advantage of the new platforms we have for promotion" says Antoine King founder of SPATE Magazine. Thats why Antoine King of SPATE magazine wants to introduce a new format for independent artists to showcase their creativity. SPATE magazine is challenging emerging artists by introducing "Mixflicks". What is a mixflick? Basically a viral video with a soundtrack. Mixflicks are short films anywhere from 5-30 minutes. They must be short enough to email and promote online but yet they have their own soundtrack that matches the films theme. This is a incredible promotional tool because you can get other emerging artists to participate in the soundtrack and film. Helping to bring the unsigned artists together on another level. SPATE magazine wants to challenge artists to take it to another level and challenge their creativity. "I want mixflicks to take the place of mixtapes. To me mixtapes is a thing of the past. A very old way of doing things. Now we have new technology to work with" says Antoine King. Mixflicks is definitely something to look for in the future and artists should take advantage of the new video platforms that we have online.
