FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Aug 13, 2008 – A growing number of employers are using the internet to screen job applicants. The impact social networking can have on one's current job or future career prospects will be discussed live during "Facebook Killed My Career!" on "The Savvy Jobseeker Podcast" (http://blogtalkradio.com/TheJobLab), hosted by Job Search Coach, Roxanne Ravenel, on Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at 6PM Eastern.

Social networking is immensely popular; but not everyone online networks responsibly. In fact, the consequences of social networking have been disastrous to the careers of some. Guest expert, Cyndi Nieto, CEO, Elite Placement Group, Inc. joins The Savvy Jobseeker Podcast to discuss this important topic. Callers are welcome to join the conversation during the show by calling (646) 200-4559. The show will stream live at http://blogtalkradio.com/TheJobLab.

Nieto cautions that, “What is viewable to your sorority sisters, drinking buddies and family can often be seen by potential and current employers. Social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace give employers a snapshot into the kind of person who might be walking into their office. This can cost you a dream job or that big promotion."

Nieto and Ravenel will discuss the benefits and dangers of social networking for job hunters; how to demonstrate one's personality without damaging one's career; the five biggest social networking mistakes made by jobseekers; and tips for cleaning up online profiles. Listeners are welcome to contribute to this important discussion during the live show.

An archive will be available at the same link immediately following the show or listeners can subscribe to the archives via RSS feed. Visit SavvyJobseeker.com to learn more about the host and the social networking discussion.
