Cat Proof Gardens and Indoor Planters Safely with Natural Solutions

Long Island, NY - Cats are very territorial, and many times will dig and mark in gardens and potted plants. Making Your Cat’s Summer A Fun and Safe Time an ebook published by PURRsonals.com--the leading cats-only social networking web site for both cat owners and their cats–discusses some natural and safe solutions to keeping kitty out of your plants.

To deter your cat–or your neighbor’s cat–from digging in or marking your garden, you can try a simple, inexpensive solution that is harmless to the cat and plants: sprinkle a mixture of dry cayenne pepper, hot mustard and chili pepper around the perimeter of the garden. You can even sprinkle it at the base of the plants on the soil. You can also use this solution on top of the soil in the potted plants you have in your house.

Both outside and indoors you can plant your cat’s “own garden”. A small patch or pot of catnip will keep kitty happy. If outside, plant it away from the garden. Indoors, plant it in a low, round pot so kitty can almost climb in there and roll around.

Another good treat for your cat is a small patch, or pot, of wheat grass. This will keep them from eating other plants outside or inside your house. And it’s good for their digestion. Put it in a room with a tile floor though as most of the time if they eat a lot of grass, they will regurgitate it.

You can buy both the wheat grass and cat nip seeds at your local garden shops, or natural food stores.

“Greens are very good for your cat, but make sure it’s the right greens that they eat ” said Sonny Crane, Founder of PURRsonals.com. “By providing cat nip and wheat grass, that also keeps your cat from eating other plants that may upset their stomach.”

Making Your Cat’s Summer A Fun and Safe Time also includes a list of plants that are dangerous for your cat.
