There is an intense competition, especially for small businesses, to be found in the first pages of internet search. Other advertisement options are also out of reach for small and medium sized businesses and for start-ups. Sokomob has created an alternative forum upon which East Africans can launch and enhance their marketing campaigns whenever they are located.
To increase accessibility, Sokomob.com website can be viewed by both computers and mobile devices such as mobile phones and PDAs. In addition, we are in the final stages of creating a text message (SMS) system that will enable SMS advertising and search including alerts for the latest postings and reminders for forthcoming events. This SMS system will be launched in September/October 2008.
Sokomob.com will create numerous job opportunities in IT, customer service, data collection, entry and maintenance and sales and marketing. We have posted a few positions online and we will be adding some more soon.
There are many hurdles to overcome, especially with the limited internet accessibility and the lack of uniformity in the gadgets and software in use in addition to other teething problems. However, we are very confident that our website and SMS users will work with us in creating a highly relevant, more versatile and mainly free website. We have created various reporting, help and feedback points in the site including a survey section to help us listen and act according to our website users wishes.
We welcome you to enjoy the services of Sokomob.com and we believe you will help to spread the word.
