Follow on Google News | Edward R. Mercer Welcomes New International Airport in Costa RicaThe newest international airport of Costa Rica is scheduled to open in 2010. As a big plus, the venue of the new airport shall be only twenty minutes from the venue of the real estate company of Ed Mercer.

Mercer Foundation is committed to maintain the ecology and biodiversity, thus leaving a better planet for those to come. Recently in Los Angeles, Ed Mercer was inducted into the Environmental Hall of Fame. Ed was hailed for his pioneering efforts to save the wild life species of the scarlet macaws, the white-faced monkeys and the sea turtles. The scarlet macaws were poached for their feathers; monkeys for pets while the turtles for eggs as aphrodisiacs. Ed Mercer stopped the illegal poaching by providing round the clock security by posting security guards. Simultaneously, Ed’s company planted thousands of almond trees, which were a natural source of food for the macaw population that increased significantly. The population of monkeys also shot up due to stopping of illegal poaching. The sea turtle population is also on an upswing as Ed provided fresh nesting grounds for the female turtles in the adjoining villages. The newest international airport of Costa Rica is scheduled to open in 2010. Its initial international flights shall carry a maximum of fifty passengers. It is believed to have a run way that will accommodate the largest passenger plane, Airbus A-380. Its opening shall herald the unlocking of the tourist activities. Besides, the development potential of Costa Rica’s southern coast shall be hiked considerably. At present, only a four to five hour drive from San José or a commuter flight was available for mass tourism in the area where the new airport is being planned. The area shall be further peppered by the tourist resorts and residential complexes. End
