Metasearch technically means 'beyond search." The term is often used to refer to the use of multiple information retrieval systems, and/or search engines, to deliver search results. The goal of metasearch is to aid searchers by delivering more targeted, relevant search results for a given query.
m0rpheme (a word that refers to the smallest unit of semantic language) is a metasearch tool specially designed with professional researchers in mind. It consists of four different search engines to help provide researches with most comprehensive web-based information possible.
"Our goal is to bring you more comprehensive, more individualized information than ever before," said Eric Bryant, Gnosis Arts chief executive. "Over the next several months we hope to expand m0rpheme's capabilities."
The first search engine included in m0rpheme is called the Gnostikon. The Gnostikon finds .edu and .gov domains, based on keyword. A superb research tool when you want information from only the most reliable sources.
m0rpheme also includes hakia, a newly-created semantic search engine
Dogpile, a metasearch engine created by the developers at InfoSpace.Com. Dogile delivers results from several of the major search engines for more comprehensive search results.
The third search engine is called the Gnostix Navigator. The Gnostix Navigator delivers search results from the nation's top academic libraries. It is a custom-built mini search engine platform designed by Rollyo.Com. which brings you resuls from the nation's top 25 academic databases.
Finally, there's Dopile, a metasearch engine created by the developers at InfoSpace.Com. Dogile delivers results from several of the major search engines for more comprehensive search results than Google or Yahoo alone.
