Brain Tea is an association that wishes to facilitate knowledge exchange and mutual enrichment between nations. It was created in November 2007 and will start action in the Year 2008.
Brain Tea was created by two friends, one Sri Lankan and the other French, who were drawn together by their common interests in Sri Lanka.
The action of the association will take place in Sri Lanka.
The objectives are:
- To carry out conference cycles on themes that can become tools for social, economic, ecological and political development in Sri Lanka,
- To disseminate Tamil & Sinhalese translated versions of the conference papers in Sri Lanka
The chosen themes will focus on economical, political, social and philosophical subjects.
They will be carefully chosen so as to ensure that these have an evident interest for the development of the country.
Our action falls within a particularly dark situation in Sri Lanka: civil war is fierce and the country still hasn’t recovered from December 2004 Tsunami.
The aim of our association is to give intellectual tools that would facilitate the resolution of problems in the Island.
The specialists who will intervene are acknowledged researchers in the Western world.
The two founders of the association both live in Paris and hence wish to exchange the scientific developments they know best: those of the “Western” world.
During these conferences, the audience will be able to discuss with the lecturers, ask them questions, in a pleasant environment.
There will be no entrance fees as these conferences want to gather the greatest amount of people.
A conference cycle will necessarily take place in Colombo, and if possible in other major towns of Sri Lanka.
We will invite specialists who will be able to shed light on the following topics:
- Colonization under a psychoanalytical approach :
This topic is fundamental to analyze the psychic trauma and consequences of colonization and improve the peoples’ cohesion in Sri Lanka for a common Identity.
- The different means of improvement of critical thinking:
This topic is more general and can be applied to everyday life as much as to general understanding of Society. It will help dismiss mystical thinking that hinders rational understanding of problems.
- Ecological Production Methods that enhance the value of ancient agricultural methods in Sri Lanka
Favor ecological production methods in Sri Lanka.
- Economical Systems in post-colonial countries, the Debt System, how and why those countries came up to this point, what are the solutions?
Find solutions to the economical problems in Sri Lanka
The lectures will be translated in both languages Sinhalese and Tamil.
The conferences will be done in English, the language talked by the most, though at different levels. This is the reason why the translations will be available as well.
If materially possible, these translations will be shown on a large screen.
2) Books
The conference translations will be put to sale as a book, in Sri Lanka.
Recordings of the conferences may also be put to sale.
