One World Adoption Services announced today its development of a new adoption program in Uganda, Africa. In a meeting at Oakwood Elementary School (Oakwood, GA), Susan Secor, Executive Director of One World Adoption Services met with Rev. Vincent Victours of Life Collage School in Uganda to discuss the beginning stages of the program’s initiatives as well as current needs of the school. The school was developed just outside the city of Kampala to minister and care for the children of parents that died of H.I.V./Aids. The staff at One World is currently planning its initial visit to Africa by the first quarter of 2009.
One World Adoption Services recently received notification that it was awarded the coveted Hague Accreditation by the Council of Accreditation (COA). Hague Accreditation attests that One World Adoption Services is in compliance with the Temporary Hague Convention Accreditation Standards. The Hague Convention is an international treaty created to ensure that intercountry adoptions are in the best interests of children and to prevent abduction, exploitation, sale, or trafficking of children. In 1994 the United states signed this treaty and agreed to develop regulations and a monitoring process for adoption service providers in the U.S. that worked with agencies in countries that signed onto the Convention.
