Aug. 8, 2008 - PRLog -- Hillsborough, NC - Every Saturday night, 2-3 members of  the NC Songwriters Co-op perform at the Gulf Rim Café in Hillsborough, a historical town just outside the Triangle. Owners Joe Tullos and his wife Andrea go out of their way to make the performers feel at home in their restaurant by providing them a $25 meal coupon and tips when they pass the hat.

The Tullos’ are post-Katrina New Orleans transplants and are making Hillsborough their home.  A musician himself Joe contacted Jon Batson to book NCSC members to showcase at his restaurant on Saturday nights.

“We have put on a weekly show since we started the showcase at the end of May.”  commented Batson.  He went on to say  “Nick Hagelin, 2007 Winner of the 10th Annual NCSC Song Contest, and popular locals Brian Hershberger, Chuck Champion, Jamie Purnell, Brien Barbour, Louise Bendall, and Jamie Anderson are just a few of the 25+ singer/songwriters who have performed here.”

August 9th, Jon Batson award-winning performing songwriter and ASCAP member will be featured with Asheville talent Dave Turner. When you catch Jon on stage you will find a good mix of humor with simple stories in an easygoing Country style, stirred well with a bit of Folk, a little Pop, a dash of Blues, a pinch of Ragtime and a smattering of parody and social commentary.  Find Jon at www.JonBatson.com

Singer and songwriter Dave Turner contributes a big voice, bold piano and a tip jar full of stories to the world of adult alternative piano rock. He delivers strong melodies and soul-searching lyrics. Listeners can hear the influences of Elton John, Billy Joel and Ben Folds to Warren Zevon, Joe Jackson, Van Morrison, Joe Cocker, Leon Russell and Tom Waits. Find Dave at www.daveturnermusic.com

As August comes to a close Roberto Cofresi, Shannon O'Connor, Pete Leary, and John Saylor will be on stage. Louise Bendall, Doc Oakroot, and Nick Hagelin have return engagements as well.

An entertaining way to enjoy a summer evening with great food, wonderful music in a fun-filled environment.
