International Jericho fans organized a floral tribute to General McAuliffe. Flowers recently arrived at Bastogne to honor this historic US General. This was a tribute to General McAuliffe who in World War 2 held off the Germans at a critical battle in Bastogne, Belgium in the Winter of 1944. When he was asked to surrender vastly outnumbered he responded “Nuts”. It was in honor of General McAuliffe in the Season 1 Final episode of Jericho that Jake said “Nuts” when offered the chance to surrender by attacking New Bern leader Constantine. This became the battle Cry behind Save Jericho campaigns.
The International Jericho Fans Campaigned to highlight support for more Jericho and quality programming and this tribute to General McAuliffe occurred in Bastogne, Belgium. Organized by Jericho fans based in Spain a floral wreath & cards were recently placed at General McAuliffe’s statue in Bastogne Center. This effort also highlighted Global awareness to the large number of International fans who watch and want more Jericho. Monies for this tribute have come from all parts of the world and is truly an event that has unified Jericho fans across borderlines. There has already been recent Jericho press coverage on this initiative all over Europe. Also of note was that Veronique Huet of the Bastogne historical center was very helpful on the logistics of getting the Wreath to Bastogne Square as well as photographing the event.
Jericho fans worldwide once again ask to be counted. There are lots of the fans in Europe who are upset and want to see more Jericho. There are various reports of networks in Europe being swamped with letters, emails and calls wanting to see more Jericho. Jericho fans are passionate, Ask Nina Tassler at CBS.
