Beat High Gas Prices and Help Rescue 51 Orphans

The Orphan Foundation announces a $10 a ticket raffle for free gas for the next 10 years. The prize is worth $53,125 and will support adoption grants for 51 children from all over the world.

Aug. 6, 2008 - PRLog -- Newbury Park, CA  -- Faced with a growing backlog of families that need financial help to adopt 51 children, The Orphan Foundation announced a raffle to win 10-years of free gas.  The projected value of the prize is based on US gas prices averaging $4 per gallon this year, and then rising 10% per year to an average of $9.43 per gallon by the 10th year.   Ticket sales will be limited to 64,500 for this raffle, and the drawing date of August 31, 2008 is rapidly approaching.  Complete rules and instructions on how to enter are available on the website (http://www.theorphanfoundation.org/free_gas_raffle.htm), as well as information on the foundation’s mission and goals.

The raffle tickets are being sold at $10 each, 6 for $50, and 12 for $100.  The raffle tickets can be purchased by calling The Orphan Foundation at (877) 4-1-ORPHAN (877.416.7742) between the hours of 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM PDT, Monday through Friday, and on weekends between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM PDT.  For more raffle information visit the foundation’s website at http://www.TheOrphanFoundation.org and click on the foundation’s raffle announcement in the news block.

The Orphan Foundation's mission is to find loving homes for the 163 million orphans and displaced children in the world.  The foundation’s programs range from providing financial support to adopting families, to medical interventions for children waiting for adoption, to transition support for children leaving institutions or foster homes at 17 or 18 years of age who have no family to help them.

The orphan crisis has reached epic proportions according to co-founder Joe DiDonato. “The number of orphans and displaced children in the world exceeds 163,000,000.  That population makes them the 7th largest nation on the planet,” DiDonato went on to say.  ‘In Eastern Europe, less than 50% will see their 20th birthdays, and of those that do, 50% will turn to crime, drugs, and prostitution to survive.  And in other parts of the world, children are being used to fight wars or commit terrorist actions.’

Mr. DiDonato says that the cost of adoption has skyrocketed out of the reach of most families, averaging nearly $20,000 domestically, and $25,000 to $40,000 internationally.  This creates a huge barrier to solving the orphan crisis according to Dr. Tatiana DiDonato, co-founder.  ‘Adoption should be free to any loving family that will open their homes to these beautiful children,’ she went on to say.  The foundation hopes that this raffle will help to provide the necessary funds to move them one step closer to making that vision of ‘free adoption’ a reality.
