Aug. 4, 2008 - PRLog -- Melissa "Melhi" Peek, of Melhi Ink, proudly introduces The General, a five star pig, who's just arrived on the election battlefield to replace the grand old pachyderm and represent  the shape of today's post-GIPper Republican Party.  The General is brandishing a killer new acronym and he's loaded full boar with side splitting campaign slogan ammo!

The General was launched partly as a tongue in cheek response to news accounts of the RNCs recent actions to protect their trademarks of the G.O.P. acronym that had been common use since the late 1800s, as well as their trademark of an elephant symbol long associated with the party.

But, says Melhi, "I've long thought the pig a much more fitting symbol for the Republican party as reshaped by 'The Gipper.'  I just didn't have a good excuse to introduce it as a new symbol until the Republican Party provided me with one. The elephant symbol was probably fitting in the 1800s. But, the Republicans were the progressive party, then. They're a very different party, now."

Together, Melhi's pig symbol and her new G.I.P. acronym (which stands for Greed & Ignorance Party,) not only reference the RNC trademark issue, government bloat, rampant pork barrel spending & trough feeding, but also make sly reference to war, oil, the term "gyp" and patron saint of today's Republican Party, former President Reagan.

The General, paired with dozens of snarky campaign slogans like "Together We Can Prevent Change!' and "Together We Can Ensure Prosperity for China" is available on t-shirts, bumper stickers and a variety of other merchandise from the Melhi Ink boutique hosted on the CafePress website:   http://www.cafepress.com/melhi
