Morris Chestnut to feature in "The 3rd Coast"

Aug. 2, 2008 - PRLog -- Slated to begin principle filming in September for a 2009 release, filmmaker Nate C. Williams brings a chapter from his own life. "The 3rd Coast" is the story of a college athelete who turns his back on football aspirations and family to seek success elsewhere. "Randy LeBlanc" is no longer feeling excitement from the game of football and seeks a more fulfilling career as an entertainment entepreneur. He meets "Shawn Dixon" (Morris Chestnut), the owner of a mediocre club on the southwest side of Houston, who has outstanding loans with a nasty loan shark. The shark is unhappy with the clubs proceeds and let's Shawn know this at every opportunity. At the end of his rope, Shawn convinces Randy to help promote "Cartoons", his club. Randy finds a natural talent for the business and soon the club is the hottest thing in town. Perfect, yes? No. Now Randy has to tell his parents that he will be leaving football... and in Texas, football is more important than life itself. Worse, Randy's cousin is also a college player and Randy's father and uncle have had a rivalry for years as each brags on their son.

"The 3rd Coast" deals with betrayal and trust in a true manner. Shawn thinks he's hit the jackpot with his new found protege. The shark is now angry that the loan may actually be paid off early and so decides he wants a piece of Cartoons. Randy's father has to come to terms with his son turning his back on football. Randy must make a decision to either support the family dream of his being a football star or turn his back on them and pursue his new dream.

Producers include screen veterans Morris Chestnut and Dennis Curry. Morris will himself bring the character of Shawn Dixon to life for the viewer. To be shot in Los Angeles and on location in Houston, filming is slated to begin at the end of Summer for a Spring 2009 release.
