Moneyway Urge People To Act Sooner Rather Than Later Over Rising Fuel Costs

Moneyway urge people to act sooner rather than later over rising fuel costs.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug 01, 2008 -
As if the UK hasn’t been hit hard enough already by the rising cost of living and soaring petrol prices, British Gas has poured salt into the wound by announcing a 35 per cent hike in energy bills, and Birmingham based bank Moneyway ( http://www.moneyway.co.uk ) is waging war on the rising costs.

The bank is urging people to declare enough is enough, and enlist the support of its OneBill ( http://www.moneyway.co.uk/products/onebill )service, which will allow the team to act on their behalf and take responsibility for household bills and switch suppliers for better deals.

Owen Woodley, Sales and Marketing Director at Moneyway, said: “Ever since last winter, the public have had to endure an ongoing string of increases in energy prices.
“But the announcement from British Gas has sent a lot of people, quite literally, over the precipice into fuel poverty. People will be too afraid to switch on their heating this winter because they will be scared of the bill.

“Our OneBill team has been keeping a close eye on energy prices for months – it is their job to work on behalf of our customers to bring their monthly household bills down – and they are poised to act.

“We want people to stop shrugging off the news and struggling on with their existing provider, and to come to us and let us help,” he said.

The OneBill scheme means that our team speak directly to energy suppliers, credit card companies, mortgage companies and mobile phone and landline providers to negotiate the best terms for each customer, and they pass those savings on directly.

Mr Woodley said: “On average, we save customers up to £500 a year – which is a massive consideration in the current climate. Who can afford to pay £500 year more than necessary?

“Moneyway has had a huge increase in people coming to us in recent months with concerns over their finances, both wanting advice on getting out of debt and avoiding getting into it by being more savvy with their cash.

“Our teams will be taking to the streets to talk to people about their bills, to explain how they could save them money and encourage them to take the plunge and take a stand against the energy providers who seem to be increasing their prices.

“It is alarming how many people have said they’re upset and appalled by rising bills, and yet rather than shopping around for a better deal, they put up with it and monitor their usage. That is no way to live, and we are determined to try to change that mentality,” he added.
