With the cold winter nights, its difficult thinking about sleeping outside in a tent, let alone actually doing it. This is the plight of hundreds of victims from the recent spate of xenophobic attacks. Top model Christina Storm, Mzansi actress Khanyisile Mbau and other South African celebrities are joining forces to aid the Red Cross at the International Fashion Sale to collect clothes and blankets for the victims and other displaced or homeless individuals.
The International Fashion Sale is all about glamour and style and about feeling and looking good. This is being used as a platform to highlight the plight of those who may not even have enough to keep them warm this winter. It is not an easy affair for those with a lower to zero income to be able to clothe, feed and school their offspring. A budget for clothes is unheard of in households where all that matters are the basic necessities such as food.
The public is being urged to use this opportunity to get rid of all those items of clothing that they have not worn for some time and may not ever want to wear again. Instead of having clutter in your wardrobe, make space for the new and donate towards a worthy cause. Bins will be available at the International Fashion Sale from July 31st until 03 August, for easy off loading of items. The Red Cross will then distribute donations to its network of organizations in need of such charity.
Christina and Khanyisile are excited to be part of the campaign and hope to be able to make a small difference in the lives of many needy people living in our community. The stars will be on hand at different times throughout the event, along with other South African celebrities, to personally meet, greet and take donations from the public.
