Dr. Fritch first founded Fritch Eye Care Medical Center on "D" St. in January 1977, with only three employees. By the end of 1982, the practice had expanded and moved to 2525 Eye Street, and now to it's current location at 9000 Ming Avenue. What began as a sole proprietorship, has grown to become Kern County's comprehensive eye health care center.
Today, Fritch Eye Care Medical Center, employs board-certified ophthalmologist, optometrists, certified licensed technicians, opticians, and support staff to maintain strict standards in all areas of medical and patient services.The physicians of Fritch Eye Care Center use cutting-edge technology and are considered to be Bakersfield LASIK, glaucoma, and cataract specialists. Charles D. Fritch MD, FACS is a board-certified ophthalmologist, founder of Fritch Eye Care Medical Center, and Medical Director of a fully equipped Medicare-approved Ambulatory Center. He is active in providing the highest quality of eye care and modern ophthalmic services to the community.
A pioneer in his field, Dr. Fritch has helped develop modern surgical techniques in cataract and retina/vitreous surgery. He holds patent related to surgical advances in lens implantation and endoscopic laser surgery.
Dr. Fritch was born in Iowa. He received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska. Following his internship in family medicine, he served two years as a flight surgeon for the United States Army. He completed his residency in ophthalmology through the UCLA program at Kern Medical Center in 1974. In 1977, he established the Fritch Eye Care Medical Center which has grown to become Kern County’s comprehensive eye health care center.
