The previous process of filing a petition with the Value Adjustment Board (VAB) required a paper petition to be mailed or brought to the County Administration building. The number of petition filings has doubled in the last two years, and is not showing signs of letting up. The huge increase in fillings has led to vast amounts of paper and increased hours for VAB staff.
The software called, AXIA, will bring together all parties that are involved in the VAB process. Taxpayers will have the ability to file petitions online, Magistrates can fill out worksheets at the hearing, and the Property Appraiser will have the ability to upload evidence directly to the system. AXIA will also improve the scheduling of hearings and the accuracy of reporting. All of this will result in a better work experience for the Lee County VAB staff and a better Taxpayer experience when dealing with that staff.
Lee County joins the seven other Florida Counties that are using AXIA to streamline their VAB processes, including: Broward, Palm Beach, Indian River, Orange, Flagler, St. Johns, and Bay.
