It has also been confirmed that he will take part at the final round at Parkalgar in Portugal on 24-26 October.
Cal comments : ‘I’m very excited to be racing at this world level, it is my ambition to be a world champion one day. This is just another opportunity in my career to gain the experience of racing with the likes of Troy Bayliss and Carlos Checa, it will be amazing’.
Talking about the HM Plant Honda team preparation, Cal says : ‘there are still decisions to be made by the team on which engine to run, the British Superbike engine has more restrictions than those run at World Superbikes, but whatever happens I can’t wait until September’.
Cal has been busy racing at Japan in the Suzuka 8hr race and said : ‘I am trying to catch up on my sleep but taking part in the race was amazing. There were tough racing conditions at times, about four hours into the race there was a heavy and thundery rain shower which soaked part of the circuit. It made conditions very hard to judge for about 20 minutes, but I am so pleased with the result for myself and teammate Yamaguchi. To get 6th place was a fantastic result, and I would like to thank Moriwaki Motul Racing for all their hard work’.
Next is Knockhill Circuit and the 9th round of the British Superbike championship, everyone at CIA Insurance wishes Cal all the best and more podium places.
