Denton, TX- Effective immediately, Denton County drivers can begin to enjoy the same driving benefits enjoyed by NASCAR drivers, long-haul truckers, U.S. commercial airliners, and even the NASA space shuttle! Mr. Tommy Nickelson, owner of Advanced Tire and Repair, is leading the county’s effort to educate the driving public about the benefits of using nitrogen in their vehicles tires.
“With gas nearing $4 dollars a gallon, it’s time that the driving public discover what the professionals have known for years,” said Mr. Nickelson. “Tires are often the most overlooked, yet potentially most dangerous item we can ignore on our vehicles. Nitrogen gas performs better than air in our tires, lowering the overall cost of driving and maintaining a vehicle.” According to the Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA), 85 percent of drivers do not properly check tire pressure.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) at the U.S. Department of Transportation, approximately 41,730 people were killed and 3,031,000 were injured on the nation’s public roads and highways in the year 2001. NHTSA estimates that proper tire inflation could help save about 50 to 80 lives and prevent about 6,600 to 10,600 injuries each year. With all the self-serve gas stations today, many people just don’t think to check their tire inflation often enough… at least once a month. Now consumers can keep their tire pressure constant while slowing the breakdown of tire rubber by filling them with Nitrogen instead of plain old air. This will increase gas mileage and safety for today’s busy drivers.
NASCAR, 18-wheelers, military vehicles, off-road trucks, heavy construction equipment, Tour deFrance bicycle racers, the NASA Space Shuttle, commercial airliners, business jets, and Formula One race cars have all been using nitrogen instead of regular compressed air in their tires for years. Even though the idea of nitrogen inflation has been around for a while, suppliers and tire makers are just starting to get their arms around its benefits. Customers are already discovering the difference with nitrogen-filled tires. According to Vicky Heron, of Denton, “As soon as I had my tires filled with Nitrogen, I immediately noticed a smoother ride and more solid handling.”
When Steve Passariello, of Argyle, was introduced to the concept of using Nitrogen in his truck tires he decided to give it a try. “Since Advanced Tire & Repair converted my tires over to Nitrogen a few weeks back, I’ve noticed a smoother ride and much better gas mileage (which now-a-days is a huge issue). When I found out how much safer Nitrogen is to use, it definitely sold me on maintaining both of our family vehicles with it also. Their staff was very attentive to my needs and answered all of my questions.”
With the proper tire pressure people can maintain by “gassing” their tires with Nitrogen, they can see approximately a 2.5 percent increase in their fuel economy. Other advantages include:
• Extended tire wear (by a much as 20 percent)
• Better stability and handling
• Tires maintain their strength and elasticity
• Better for the environment
• Eliminates false alarms for tire sensor-equipped vehicles
Advanced Tire and Repair offers free nitrogen fill ups with all new tires they sell (and unlimited free refills whenever necessary).
