Phoenix, Arizona – Dr. Michael Shaw, President and co-Founder of SilkWeb Consulting & Development, was invited by Robert Morris University to assist in the creation of a Lexicon of Online and Distance Education. The book is tentatively set to be published in 2009 by Rowman & Littlefield Education. Dr. Shaw will be recognized as a Distinguished Contributing Author in the Lexicon which is comprised of 1500 terms and concepts related to online learning.
Dr. Shaw is uniquely qualified for such an undertaking given his prior experience at University of Phoenix where he continues to hold an adjunct faculty role and his current leadership role at SilkWeb. His research interests include web based training technologies, online faculty quality, employee turnover in call centers, and values in the workplace. He has published several peer reviewed studies including Value-based profits: The relationship between employee organizational value fit and turnover in call centers, A New Model for Online Doctoral Course Development, and A New Model for Online Doctoral Course Development with Faculty Quality Assessment.
Dr. Shaw, President of SilkWeb Consulting, is considered an e-learning veteran who understands the challenges learning organizations face with keeping up with technological advances. In the Lexicon, Dr. Shaw also added a section focusing on Moodle. SilkWeb currently uses the open source Learning Management System to deliver web based training.
