30,000 Watts. 26 Rap Ministries. 8 Hours. 1 God, Jesus Christ. Rap Fest is a Free, Outdoor event held August 9, 2008 in the Bronx, NY.

July 28, 2008 - PRLog -- Rap Fest, Inc., now in its 14th year, has joined forces with the Jehovah Shammah International Ministries, a church reaching the urban community through youth activities, concerts, outreaches, media and more..  Rap Fest 2008 will proudly hold its event on Union Avenue, between East 147th and East 149th Streets in the Bronx, directly across the street from JS Ministries.

Rap Fest originally took it’s course in 1994, as a need to reach the youth by embracing the hip hop culture, and having a tent revival, at a local church (Salem Temple) with a couple of teens, who were already familiar with the street term” rapping”. With the overwhelming response and youth reaction, the event quickly evolved into the birth of Rap Fest.

Rap Fest has grown considerably, from 50 to 5000 attendees over the course of 14 years, CEO/ Founder, Bert Bocachica of Westchester Christian Worship Center in White Plains, NY, states that Rap Fest is primarily focused on perfecting their vision, and task by reaching the youth with a familiar sound and beat, that improves parent communication, and community involvement.

Bert Bocachica, also states “That he is committed to Rap Fest not being another show, or concert, but more so impacting the lives of the community”. Some of Rap Fest future goals consist of continuing to develop corporate relationships and community partnerships with church pastors, ministry organizations, and youth leaders, who are not member driven, but to those that have the same common goal of evangelizing the community, and reaching those who are unsaved.
