The result is a 6 year contract book of 18 Programs empowering historic international public/private partnerships that unites disparate organizations to serve the unmet needs of the poor. In 1999 and 2000, Hope was mentored by the e-health group at Bank of America, a high powered team of international bankers who eventually split up as the committee would not sign off on healthcare technology deals that didn’t have real estate behind them. It was a great lesson in the obsession of property-backed assets. Now the property market is at its lowest point, bankers are realizing they can make money from funding technology-led deals that invest in Human assets. These new large scale contracts are both profitable and low risk.
Hope states “there is a huge opportunity for the banking industry. The global healthcare industry is over $3.8 trillion and the top 200,000 US Foundations have $2.12 trillion in cash and assets. These funds must flow to serve the critical social needs and the bank guarantees can give the comfort to the guarantors and financiers that investing in large scale programs is safe and effective.
