FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) –
Jul 25, 2008 – Eland Cables has recently been PADS listed as a UK approved supplier to Network Rail infrastructure for MV Power cable. This follows their approval earlier in the year for Bare Conductor and their listing as a UK Network Rail approved supplier for PVC and LSZH sheathed Screening Conductor cable.
MV Power cables are used trackside for distribution of power to switching stations and transformers. To date Eland Cables has supplied cable for 11 feeder routes over three projects, including Kingston Bridge in February 2008. Integral to obtaining the approval was a detailed quality assessment, referred to as a ‘Spike Test’, performed at the independent CESI facility in Milan. The test was designed to prove that the copper wire screening could withstand a full specified fault current for a period of no less than 3 seconds, until the primary protection activates. The ‘Spike Test’ is extremely valuable in ensuring the capability of the screen, thus ensuring protection of equipment and prevention of further damage. ‘We are happy to note that with this approval we have made another addition to the PADS listing and the quality of our cables has again been recognised by Network Rail.’ – Chris Barnes, Manager - Technical and projects. Eland Cables has arguably the largest range of rail cables available in the UK including Network Rail Approved Signalling Cables, Telecommunications Cables, Trackfeeder Cables, MV & LV Power Cables, Points Heating Cables, Fire Performance Cables, LUL Approved Cables, Rolling Stock Cables and much more.
