13 million orphans are close to victory in a historic international public/private partnership that unites disparate organizations to serve their unmet needs.
Ambassador Hope has been battling with the indifference and bureaucracy that permeates Capitol Hill and the negativity that has been amplified since the start of the war on Iraq.
President Bush has given his constant commitment to serving the needs of the poor and asked the private sector to bring innovation and large scale private capital into the International Development sector where most governments are slow in responding to critical needs.
“When professional Directors and staffers refuse to do the job they are appointed for and paid for...it forces us to stand up and demand that critical issues are dealt with. Our Executive Order has been in the White House for signing for 18 months. Joshua Bolten, Chief of Staff has received 47 formal requests to schedule a 3 minute appointment with President Bush for the signing” Hope says.
Hope says “when 2 million calls are registered by the White House switchboard, the President MUST be notified and then he can take action”.
“It is immoral to ask the orphans to go without food for 2 days to fund the international phone calls so now I’m asking the 2 million members of ONE.org to be the ‘Voice of the Voiceless’ and call the White House on 202 456 1111 and ask President Bush to sign the Executive Order –‘The President’s Legacy – Hope on AFRICA’.
One.org members can get on the phone to 202 456 1111 and get it done.
