Reporting into the club’s Brand & Marketing Director, Lucius Peart, edp will work across all aspects of the club’s Respect Pompey initiative, which includes a series of programmes in the fields of social inclusion, education and health. This will include the launch of a series of football-themed books aimed at young but reluctant readers later this year. The agency will also work on opportunities to promote the club’s long-held association with the Royal Navy.
Joe Palmer, Director of edp sports marketing, said:
“Portsmouth has a very powerful story to tell in terms of the way it is leveraging the popularity, influence and resources of the club to make a tangible and positive impact on its local community. In many ways it is pioneering what football clubs can do to improve the lives of their supporters and we’re very excited about coming on board to help tell that story.”
Lucius Peart commented:
“We’re very proud of the work that our community teams do with the support of Portsmouth City Council and our sponsors, be it at the Pompey Study Centre with school children or through our Respect Programme for often disengaged young adults. Football clubs are frequently criticised for being overly commercial but we believe that the programme we are embarking on will go some way towards confirming Pompey as a socially responsible brand.”
