The 8-year contract, covering all of AIBM’s UK road transport operations, will see AIBM’s existing hauliers being contracted and managed by TDG via a central platform in a £50m p.a. deal that further demonstrates TDG’s market leading transport management capability.
AIBM’s 42 sites across the UK currently despatch over 5 million tonnes of product per annum and cover 100,000 miles per day. The TDG-AIBM platform will use TDG’s integrated transport management systems, already successfully proven with other TDG customers. The platform will procure haulage, plan optimal routes which minimise empty running, and provide real-time web reporting for planners, hauliers and customers. Improved visibility will mean better control of customer service performance and a single co-ordinated approach will provide enhanced opportunities to roll out health and safety best practice across the AIBM operation.
On signing the contract, Karl Hudson, Supply Chain Director for AIBM, said: “TDG have successfully proven their ability to manage technology-enabled transport platforms. They clearly understand the need to align supply chain strategy with overall business goals and I am looking forward to our two companies working together as long-term partners.”
David Garman, Chief Executive of TDG, commented: “We are very pleased to be embarking on this relationship with Aggregate Industries. Our systems and people will provide AIBM with a mechanism to improve service, enhance market position and reduce environmental impact. This partnership is evidence of TDG’s ongoing drive to deliver value-creating supply chain management solutions.”
