State House Democratic Candidate from District 87, Todd Maki, wins a key endorsement from the coveted Voters Coalition of Palm Beach County. Todd Maki responding to the endorsement said, “The Voters Coalitions’ longstanding commitment to the election process, to voters and to Florida is well known and respected throughout the state and I am very proud to have received such an important endorsement.”
Under the majority party’s leadership in Tallahassee, voting problems continue to plague our state. Maki believes voters’ rights and the voting process is at the cornerstone of our democratic process and yet we continue to make minor, inconsiquential and confusing changes to the ballot. The year 2000 presented serious issues in Palm Beach County with the voting process. According to Todd Maki, “After residing in this district for more than nineteen years, I had the opportunity to vote here and just wonder if my votes even counted; a distrubing thought when granting powers to people who oversee our Education, Economy, and Environment. Our voting system needs to be the best.”
Todd Maki is currently heading up Future Leadership Boca 2008, a program modeled after Leadership Boca with Palm Beach Community College and is presented in partnership with the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce. He also has served the community, as Student Trustee at Palm Beach Community College, as Founding Chairman of the Christian Leadership Association, and as a mentor in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Mentorship Program. In 2004, he received the Provost Award for Distinguished Service. Maki is currently facilitating an educational program on leadership for PBCC's Summer Youth College.
Todd Maki's passion for state government was kindled while attending Florida State University in Tallahassee. While there he worked in the Florida Senate for State Senator Dave Aronberg and former State Senator and current United States Representative Ron Klein.
Florida House District 87 includes parts of Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Briny Breezes, Deerfield Beach, Delray Beach, Village of Golf, Gulf Stream, Highland Beach, Hypoluxo, Lantana, Manalapan, and Ocean Ridge.
