Gordon College among the "Great Colleges to Work For."

The Chronicle of Higher Education bestowed "Great College" recognition on Gordon College in six categories.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Jul 18, 2008 – Wenham, MA  -  The Chronicle of Higher Education recently named Gordon College among the "Great Colleges to Work For." Gordon received the "Great College" recognition in six categories for outstanding employee offerings in: Health Insurance; Housing Assistance; Vacation or Paid Time Off; Disability Insurance; Post-Retirement Benefits; and 403b or 401K.

"I am pleased Gordon College has been recognized for its generous benefit plans," says Nancy Anderson, Director of Human Resources for the Christian liberal arts college. "As an employer and as a community, Gordon values the health and welfare of our employees as well as their families, and sees our investment in benefits as an essential component of our total compensation philosophy."

This is the first year The Chronicle of Higher Education has conducted a survey and rankings based on best-workplace programs. See this at:  http://chronicle.com/cgi2-bin/texis/chronicle/search

The ranking, which evaluated 39 public universities and 50 private colleges nationwide, is the academic version of Fortune's popular "100 Best Companies to Work For" issue. "For this first year, we limited participation to a group of four-year institutions that were invited based on specific Carnegie classifications," says Chronicle Editor Jeffrey J. Selingo. The Chronicle of Higher Education reviewed Carnegie's classifications for their selection of colleges and universities to participate in their "Best Colleges to Work For" rankings.

Gordon College is one of only two member-schools in the Council for Christian Colleges (CCCU) to make The Chronicle of Higher Education's "Great Colleges" list, and one of two colleges from Massachusetts to receive the honor. For information on this recognition, visit http://www.chronicle.com  or  contact: Cyndi McMahon in the Office of College Communications at 978.847.4236 or email cyndi.mcmahon@gordon.edu.

Gordon College is a Christian college of the liberal arts and sciences on Boston's North Shore. The College offers majors in 37 fields and has graduate programs in education and music education. Leading the way in Christian college merit, Gordon is nationally ranked for its excellence in academics and its role in character building. These achievements recognize Gordon as one of the nation's top Christian Colleges.
