Jul 18, 2008 – Rev. Robert L. Tuzik, Ph.D., is a special assistant to the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Chicago. In this capacity, Rev. Tuzik is responsible for reviewing archdiocese documents and publications, assisting priests with scholarships and providing support for liturgy. He has an exemplary background of service which includes positions as interim director, pastor and professor of liturgy. Rev. Tuzik has extensive knowledge of liturgy and sacramental theology and shares this expertise as an associate pastor for five parishes, a faculty member for the permanent diaconate program, a field education supervisor for Mundelein Seminary and the Catholic Theological Union, a staff member of the Chicago Archdiocesan Office for Divine Worship and a writer. Since his ordination to priesthood in 1973, Rev. Tuzik has served on a variety of commissions and committees working in the areas of liturgical consultation and planning. He has published four books and more than seventy articles in periodicals such as Liturgy 70, The Rite, Liturgical Ministry, Modern Liturgy and Antiphon. Rev. Tuzik holds an AB in literature from Loyola University, a Master of Divinity degree from St. Mary of the Lake Seminary and a Master of Arts degree and Ph.D. in liturgical studies from the University of Notre Dame. When Rev. Tuzik is away from the Archdiocese of Chicago, he enjoys travel, playing golf and reading.
