Tracing performance through the supply chain
After a study of the market, Nestlé Purina chose the solutions developed by Transporeon, believing they best matched their specific requirements, particularly by offering local support in each of the countries where Nestlé Purina is present.
Mr. Martin Robinson, Manager Transport & Logistics Services Nestlé Purina, notes: “We took the decision in 2006 that an in-house team equipped with the right tool could be most effective in managing our international transport operations. We also recognised the opportunity to simplify communication processes. Today we have implemented Transporeon at our factory sites and we are tracking carrier and factory performance from the time an order for transport is placed through to the truck’s arrival at the designated DC. “
TIFLOW and TISLOT
In the first phase, Nestlé Purina selected the TIFLOW and TISLOT modules. Calling on pre-established criteria, such as postal code, vehicle type, etc., TIFLOW automatically transmits the freight orders to the carriers. After receiving all the important data, the carrier has to confirm acceptance with a mouse click. TISLOT allows the carriers to book timeslots, thus reducing the throughput time at the loading or unloading bays. As a result, the logistics process becomes more efficient and the trucks spend less time waiting.
Mr. Robinson continues: “Today, we use TIFLOW and TISLOT, but looking ahead our plan is to leverage the other e-logistics modules available from Transporeon to develop sustainable sourcing strategies to the mutual advantage of carriers, Nestlé PURINA and the environment, with the aim of reducing empty running.”
