From evening gowns to swimsuits, the contestants were judged by a distinguished celebrity panel including Actor, D.B. Sweeney; Miami Heat Point Guard, Gary Payton; E! Entertainment Host, Michael Yo; ESPN’s “Stump the Schwab”, Howie Schwab; Professional Golfer, John Daly; NBA Player and Best Damn Sports Show Period co-host, John Salley and for the second year in a row Sports Announcer and host of Fox Sports Net Best Damn Sports Show Period, Chris Rose, hosted the pageant which was held at the Broward Theatre for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale.
Described as a “truly amazing lady and everything we look for in a Hooters Girl” Caminiti charmed everyone and made a “huge impression on everyone the minute she arrived” said a Hooters of America representative.
Caminiti whose hobbies include dancing, yoga and jet skiing says winning the Miss Congeniality title has only made her “hungrier to achieve my dream of following my idol Audrey Hepburn and starring in A list movies……It was a fantastic opportunity to represent Australia in the international pageant, one which I will remember for the rest of my life. I met some incredible people and made so many friends who have helped me grow as a person and professionally as a model” says Caminiti. “When my name was called as the winner of Miss Congeniality I was so shocked I didn’t move for a couple of seconds, I feel extremely humbled to have won the title and want to thank everyone at Hooters Australia for giving me the opportunity”
“We’re very proud of Emma and her new Miss Congeniality title. It’s the third year we’ve sent one of our home grown Aussie Hooters Girls to represent Australia, but it’s the first time they’ve come home with a crown” says Julia Bayley, Marketing Manager of Hooters Restaurants Australia.
Michelle Hellyer was crowned the first ever Miss Hooters Australia in 2006 and flew to Las Vegas to represent Australia and last year Verity East of Hooters Mermaid Beach won the coveted Australian crown and travelled to Las Vegas.
Miss Hooters International 2008 was won by Sara Hoots from San Antonio, TX USA who returns home USD $50,000 richer and in recognition of the chain’s international expansion, a Miss Hooters World title was given to Suzie Fu representing Beijing, China.
Hooters Mermaid Beach QLD, Hooters Cronulla and Hooters Parramatta NSW join more than 446 locations worldwide. Hooters Australia is scheduled to open restaurants in Perth WA, Brisbane QLD and Auckland New Zealand by the end of 2009.
