Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame to Induct Olympic Gold Medalist & WNBA Legend Jennifer Azzi

NBA Ambassador & WBNA Spokesperson to be honored in 2009 Class

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Jul 17, 2008 – San Francisco, CA – The Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame (WBHOF) will enshrine Olympic gold medalist and WNBA star Jennifer Azzi in Knoxville, Tennessee on June 12-13, 2009. Jennifer was elected to the 2009 class by the WBHOF Board of Directors and will be one of six inductees to the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. The Class of 2009 also includes Cynthia Cooper-Dyke, Jennifer Gillom, Sonja Hogg, Ora Washington and Jill Hutchison.

As a Hall of Famer from Stanford University, Jennifer launched into a 13 year professional basketball career in which she was regarded as one of the best players to ever play the game of basketball.   She retired from the WNBA as the all time leader in three point field goal percentage.  She is an Olympian from the 1996 gold medal team. Her basketball accolades include NCAA Player of the Year as well as MVP of the Women’s Final Four, and is the only Stanford athlete to win both the prestigious Naismith and Wade Trophies.

Off the court, Jennifer has taken her unique knowledge of leadership, competition and teamwork, to become one the nation’s most sought after motivational speakers to leading global companies.  Focused on building self-leadership and excellence in teams and individuals, Jennifer inspires, informs, and entertains corporate and association audiences, worldwide, with cutting-edge content, ageless wisdom, and original, high-impact anecdotes.  She is also a Community Ambassador for the NBA and an author.

Jennifer will be participating in the upcoming WNBA/Toyota sponsored Inspiring Women events in San Francisco on July 29-30, 2008.   As part of her participation, she will be the emcee for the Toyota Rebound Project, which ties together the community efforts of the league, through WNBA Cares.  Jennifer is also a special guest at the Inspiring Women luncheon, honoring Robin Roberts, co-anchor of ABC News’ Good Morning America.
