"Having nearly 20 years in the journalism field, I am an admitted news junkie," Editor Dave Thomas said. "While there are many news sites out there, I wanted readers to be able to go to one source to get the information they desired, removing the need to jump from site to site. I also believe in articles that are crisp and to the point. I realize people have a lot on their plates today; I want to make this site a place where they can come and visit, get the information they need, and move on with their next task."
Thomas, who also runs a blog site for insurance professionals at www.dailyinsurer.blogspot.com, encourages readers to send in news tips, voice their opinions and more.
"I sometimes provide an editor's take on a subject," Thomas said. "I want interaction with the readers and have them give me their thoughts. While news should be delivered in a fair and balanced manner, if you clearly have an opinion on a subject, state it as an opinion and encourage feedback from your readers."
The goal of the site as it grows is to add advertising, forums, and more interaction among those visiting. "I also encourage new businesses in the state to contact our site so we can promote their openings, new products, etc.," Thomas added.
