FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Jul 16, 2008 – IRVINE, CALIF. – Award-winning KTGY GROUP, INC., Architecture and Planning, received the Pasadena Beautiful Foundation’s Redevelopment Award for the design of Whole Foods Market honoring the firm’s significant development incorporating a historic building. KTGY was presented with the award at the 41st Annual Design Awards Banquet at The Langham Huntington Hotel, 1401 S. Oak Knoll Avenue in Pasadena, Calif.

Located on the site of an 80-year-old historic building, the design features a two-story, 76,770 sq. ft. Whole Foods Market on a 1.2-acre parcel, and is supported by three levels of subterranean parking including Vermaports (a system for transporting shopping carts similar to escalators). The winning project is located at the southwest corner of Arroyo Parkway and Bellevue Drive. The contractor is C.W. Driver. The developer is Gordon Ekstrand/Bellevue Ventures, LLC. Whole Foods Market also received a prestigious Gold Nugget Grand Award for the Best Adaptive Re-Use Project. Honoring creative achievements in architectural design and land use planning for residential, commercial and industrial projects, the Gold Nugget Awards program is the premiere event of the annual PCBC, the nation’s largest regional trade show and conference.

“This was an exciting and challenging project to design and plan,” said Greg Lyon, principal at KTGY. “It’s a multi-level project on a very tight site that incorporates elements of the 80-year-old existing historic structure with the new, creating a sense of style and architecture that is unique. We are thrilled that this development has been so well received by the community and the real estate industry.”

KTGY’s Retail/Mixed-Use Studios are continuously designing retail and entertainment centers, lifestyle destinations, urban developments, and mixed-use communities. Today they have teamed up with well-respected developers including Regency Centers, Vestar Development Company, Allied Retail Partners, Red Mountain Retail Group, Champion Development Group, Makar Properties, Developers Diversified (DDRC), Civic Partners, Watt Commercial and others.
