ABBE, the Awarding Body for the Built Environment, has appointed Carol Martin as its new Customer Liaison Manager. Ms Martin will be responsible for helping to grow the Birmingham-based qualification body’s support network for candidates and centres.
The awarding body, which is the number one market leader in energy assessment qualifications, has created the new role in response to increased demand for its diplomas and continuing expansion of its national network of approved assessment centres.
Registrations have increased since the same period last year, thanks in part to growing interest in energy assessment qualifications. These enable practitioners to produce the new energy performance certificates required for different types of property under European legislation.
Ms Martin joins ABBE from her previous role as Course and Events Coordinator at Birmingham City University’s School of Architecture, where she was responsible for postgraduate courses. Carol brings extensive customer management skills to the organisation, with experience of a variety of previous positions including five years at Vodafone.
Her new role will involve liaising with ABBE’s extensive network of centres across the UK, which delivers the tuition for candidates registering to take its diplomas. The vocational qualifications, which mostly range from the equivalent of an A Level to HND standard, are essential for a variety of professions related to the built environment, including caretaking, property management and energy assessment.
Ms. Martin, who has a degree in textile design from Huddersfield University, said “I’ve always enjoyed customer focussed roles, and I’ll be able to put my skills to good use, both in business to business situations managing our centre network and linking up with our end users, the candidates.
