New DW-TV Series: Degree with Career Guarantee

Starting July 15, “Campus Bremen: Tomorrow’s Business Leaders” will put Jacobs University in focus. Deutsche Welle highlights the school and environment from the students' perspective.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Jul 14, 2008 – Whoever decides to study at Jacobs University in Bremen won’t have to worry about their future career. Since its founding in 2001, the university has quickly developed a great reputation in the area of education due to its unique profile. It’s the first private, English-language university in Germany offering comprehensive programs to 1,200 students from 91 countries – just one-fourth of which are German. Moreover, there is one professor for every 10 students. “Tomorrow’s Business Leaders” is the title of a five-part series that will be broadcast by Deutsche Welle starting Tuesday, July 15.

Reporters Michael Wetzel and Wolf Gebhardt accompanied three students over several weeks as they went to lectures, walked around campus and took coffee breaks. The two gained insights into the unusual research and teaching conditions as well as the intercultural life that has been created as nearly all students live on the university’s campus.

“It’s an impressive and especially innovative international university project,” says Manuela Kasper-Claridge, responsible for Business and Science at DW-TV. “Educational topics are booming – they are heavily requested from our viewers.” Deutsche Welle will be broadcasting the documentary as part of “Made in Germany” on Tuesdays at 22:30 UTC.

Jacobs University in Bremen has also created a blog to accompany the individual episodes (http://jacobs-realitytv.blogspot.com).
