July 12, 2008 - PRLog -- This week marked 4 months since the TV drama October Road last aired on ABC’S primetime network.  October Road fan’s honored this 4 month mark by sending a large amount of letters, postcards, and emails to both ABC and Disney executives. July 10th was also the day the fan’s chose to call ABC and leave 30 second messages on the networks automated message system.  ABC President, Stephen McPherson, was on summer vacation this week, but that did not stop the committed fans of October Road.  They sent Mr. McPherson hundreds of letters and postcards asking him to change his mind about canceling their show.

The fans also included Disney Television Group President, Anne Sweeney, in their campaign this past week.  These fan’s want October Road to return to television and they feel these two executives can make that happen.  The fan’s sent there letters and postcards in such a way that they all arrived on the same day.  The morning of July 10th found the mail room of ABC Studios & Disney Television Group very busy.  They had to handle hundreds of letters and postcards asking this corporation to change it‘s mind about cancelling October Road.

On July 8th an article published in TV Guide, was read by one of the October Road fans.  The article supposedly is talking about October Road and the Season 2 DVD release.  The fan reports they read the following in this article: “It tell(s) of the 15 minute wrap up that Rosenberg plans. It will be called "Don't look back, an epilogue for an epic love." It will start at Hannah and Big Cat's wedding and flash forward 7 years to answer all unanswered questions. It will be stuck on the end of season 2 DVD. The cast is excited because they want to know all of the answers as well.”

October Road fan’s seem to be happy that there will be a Season 2 DVD, but are disappointed that their call’s for the return of October Road seem to have gone unanswered by ABC/Disney, so far.  You might think this would make most, if not all, give up and stop fighting, but it seems to have had the opposite effect.

The official website for the campaign to save October Road has seen a large influx in the number of new people joining the site this week.  July 10th was a record breaking day for this site, in the number of new members joining in a 24 hour period.  Membership has jump up 55% in the last 26 days.

October Road Fan’s are using the “PAY OCTOBER ROAD CAMPAIGN” to get the word out about the show, by donating Season 1 DVD’s to many different places, people, & charities.  Spreading the word that they are never going to stop trying to get people to hear them, is what these devoted fan’s plan to do in the coming weeks.

This coming week, on July 17th, will be another day that ABC/Disney will see a flood of Postcards.  The fan’s of October Road plan to send Postcards this week to Mr. McPherson and Ms. Sweeney.  In addition to ABC/Disney the fan’s will include in this weeks campaign the ABC owned Lifetime Television Network.  Lifetime was given the opportunity to pick October Road up in the months prior to the May 13th up front’s, but the network seemed to pass on the idea.  Fan’s will also be asking the CEO of Lifetime Television Network, Andrea Wong, to change her mind and bring October Road over to their network.

Lifetime is making a name for it’s self with it’s highest ever rated drama series, Army Wives.  The ratings for Army Wives has been in the 4.5 million viewer ship and October Road fan’s think their show would fit right in with this network.  The October Road Season 2 finale aired March 10th and pulled a 3.4 million viewer ship, according to the website www.tvbynumbers.com.  If Lifetime were to pick October Road up the fan’s are sure that not only would the strong fan base for this show follow it there, but new viewers that have since come to find this drama would also flock to the Lifetime Network to watch it as well.

Last the fan’s of October Road have created new T-Shirt’s that they are hoping to use to draw the publics attention to their cause.  You can find these T-Shirt at this link:
