Dailymotion, the world's largest independent video sharing site, has joined forces with ‘1 Giant Leap: What About Me?’ to host content for the biggest global music jam in history. The documentary, also shown on Channel 4, follows two visionary filmmakers Duncan Bridgeman and Jamie Catto as they journey across fifty locations to interview some of the world’s leading actors and great thinkers, as well as some interesting unsung heroes they meet along the way, which they weave with original musical collaborations with stunning imagery. Each week a new episode is uploaded covering universal topics such as God, sex, death and money. Contributors include Billy Connelly, Bob Geldof, Noam Chomsky, Deepak Chopra, and Susan Sarandon whilst artists such as Michael Stipe, Will Young, Alanis Morissette and K D Lang contribute to create what becomes the musical soundtrack to each theme.
Jamie and Duncan explain, ‘We have collaborated with some amazing thinkers and musicians to produce a poignant, emotional and entertaining time capsule of humanity at its most inspirational. It shows how we are all connected though our creativity and beliefs, but most of all though our madness. Dailymotion offers a high-definition player to showcase our work and take our soul-searching multimedia content to a wider audience.’
Digby Lewis, Creative Director, Dailymotion, adds, ‘This extraordinary documentary takes a collaborative, organic approach to film-making using a DVD camera and a laptop. We can take this to a wide audience at Dailymotion who are interested in independent film-making and independent thought.’
