University of Fairfax and STS Announce $600,000 HIPAA Compliance Fellowship Fund

The University of Fairfax is pleased to announce a $600,000 HIPAA (HEALTH INSURANCE PORTABILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY ACT) Compliance Fellowship Fund in conjunction with Simplified Training Solutions.

PR Log (Press Release)Jul 10, 2008 – The University of Fairfax announced today that in conjunction with Simplified Training Systems it had established a $600,000 HIPAA Graduate Fellowship Fund to support mid-career professionals conducting applied research at the graduate level in order to further HIPAA compliance.

“This funding provides mid-career professionals to advance the state of the art in HIPAA Compliance,” says President Victor N. Berlin, University of Fairfax.   He continued, “This funding will support applied research conducted by our students who will be examining the effects of self-directed video-based training in HIPAA Compliance.”  The research supported by these funds will utilize the HIPAA Compliance Training Library donated to the University by Simplified Training Solutions (STS). The HIPAA Compliance Training Library consists of over 500 GB of computer/video-based training for medical, dental and small business offices. The American Medical Association, the American Dental Association, and AHIMA have distributed to their members the STS HIPAA Compliance Training Too Kits. “We are very pleased that the University has made this commitment to supporting the advancement of HIPAA Compliance,” said Rob Karn, Vice President of Marketing, STS.  Mr Karn continued, “STS is excited that its contributions to the University will be used as part of this research initiative.”
