Typical energy consumption for a refrigerated vending machine can be as much as 3,500 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year and the Vending Miser can cut energy consumption in a refrigerated vending machine by as much as 46 percent which is a significant energy cost savings each year, according to USA Technologies.

Vending Miser incorporates energy-saving technology into a small plug-and-play device that installs in minutes, either on the wall or on the vending machine.

The device also utilizes a passive infrared sensor that powers down the machine when the surrounding area is vacant; monitors the room's temperature; automatically repowers the cooling system at one-hour to three-hour intervals; and ensures the products within the machine stay cold.
