TranslateMedia, a BSEN 15038:2006 certified translations agency, was established in 2004 with the vision of providing a fast, accurate and confidential translation service. This has been achieved with the development of a proprietary workflow platform that allows clients, project managers and translators to work online in close collaboration. Until 2007, the company did not use translation memory software as there was no package that fitted with the company’s criteria for such a system.

A dedicated team of experienced translation project management professionals monitor and support all the automated stages of the workflow, and setup client accounts before use. Clients are offered detailed management reporting tools, real-time job tracking, a dedicated project manager for all contact and queries, and an unlimited number of users for the online portal, all completely free of charge. The translations and QA stages are carried out by professional, in-country translators who are hand-picked for the client’s account.
MemoQ is a translation memory tool developed by Kilgray, which allows translated phrases to be remembered and then suggested automatically within a simple word processor interface. This software has three key benefits: it can help speed up the turnaround of translations, ensure consistency of terminology across a company’s literature, and reduce translation costs. MemoQ offers a server-based system, allowing translators and project managers around the world to connect and work together on the same project using the same memory at the same time, immediately making use of each other’s work in real-time.
TranslateMedia successfully trialled MemoQ with their translators over six months, and is now integrating the tool within their workflow platform. In the process all administrative tasks will be automated, and the resulting system will allow TranslateMedia to streamline their internal processes to unprecedented levels.
