FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) –
Jul 09, 2008 – The Short Story Brasserie, a restaurant in Granville, Ohio, is proud to provide central Ohio and its surrounding areas with the opportunity to explore cuisine in the same way that Hemingway brought the sight, sounds and flavors of the world to his readers.
Owner James Housteau developed a passion for food, wine and travel while reading the stories of Ernest Hemingway. “Hemingway bound the words in his stories together with his passion for food, wine, friends and travel and this restaurant allows me to share those experiences with my friends.” The Short Story will bring home the flavors of locales like France, Spain, Italy, Cuba and Africa. Execute Chef Chad Lavely formerly of The Refectory, Aubergine Private Dinner Club, Carolyn’s in German Village and Handke’s Table has created a varied menu that will constantly evolve to explore the breadth of food experiences shared by Hemingway. The Short Story’s nightly menu will have appetizers for the table, hot and cold small plates, large plate entrées and desserts. While classical French cooking techniques will be used throughout all the food preparation, the cuisine will not be limited to French dishes. The Short Story’s nightly menu may feature dishes like: Fricassee of Maine Lobster with Wild Mushroom and Herb Gnocchi Plantain Crusted Tuna in a Sweet Jerk Glaze and Pineapple Salsa Pan Roasted Salmon & Seared Foie Gras Sautéed Spinach & Roasted Garlic Wine is considered to be a very important compliment to the food at The Short Story. “As the owner of a wine shop, The Wine Cache (http://www.thewinecache.com), it was crucial for me to hire a staff that understands wine and how to pair food and wine to complement each other”, says Owner James Housteau. The Executive Chef Chad Lavely honed his food and wine pairing skills with now famed wine maker Drew Neiman while at the Aubergine Private Dinner Club. The General Manager Julie Mulisano started her passion for fine wine at a Wine Spectator award winning restaurant and was deeply involved with the wine and spirits programs at The Worthington Inn, The Refectory Restaurant, Alana's Restaurant and Lucé. Julie has previously created award winning wine lists and she has used that depth of experience in creating The Short Story’s wine list with over 100 fine wines. Upon entering the restaurant, guests are greeted by a contemporary yet classical atmosphere with the impressive wine library on display behind the bar. The marble bar top and tables, artwork sharing the experiences of Hemingway and walls painted in subdued tones all combine to evoke the elegance of the era in which Hemingway lived. Guests will be able to enjoy just a drink, a small plate or a full dinner at the bar. The main dining room will be able to accommodate tables for two up to parties of ten. “The definition for brasserie is a restaurant with a relaxed setting”, said James Housteau, owner and Sommelier. “I am pleased to have created a restaurant where I can share my passion for fine food in a relaxed setting with my friends and guests.” The Short Story Brasserie is located at 923 River Road in Granville, Ohio and is just a short drive from Columbus, Ohio. The restaurant is open from Tuesday to Saturday and the hours are from 5pm to 9pm on Tuesday and Wednesdays and from 5pm to 10pm on Thursday through Saturday. Reservations are strongly suggested and can be made by contacting the restaurant directly at 740-587-0281. http://www.theshortstoryrestaurant.com # # # The Short Story Brasserie is a restaurant in Granville, Ohio offering fine food in a casual setting.
