FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Jul 09, 2008 – Toronto, ON –  Softchoice Corporation (TSX: SO), a leading North American provider of technology solutions and services, is delighted to announce their upcoming humanitarian mission to Uganda next month. Softchoice Care’s Board, the Company’s employee-inspired and employee-driven philanthropic outreach program will be traveling to Kampala, Uganda and volunteering at the OCA Computer IT center, a grassroots initiative providing free computer training skills to local orphans, disadvantaged youth and adults in the community.   In addition to providing donations to establish a new computer lab, the Board will provide computer training classes as part of the centers on-going initiative to increase computer learning within the community.  The Board will spend time visiting several local orphanages in Kampala, and also visit rural IDP villages in northern Uganda to donate supplies to hundreds of displaced children.

The Softchoice Care board is volunteering through A Broader View Volunteers Corp, a US based non-profit organization and leader in operating international volunteer programs. A Broader View Volunteer Corp makes volunteering abroad possible for people with limited time by providing the opportunity to experience another culture while making a real difference in people’s lives. Programs range from 1 to 24 weeks. A Broader View Volunteer programs are open to people of all ages and backgrounds. Volunteers are given customized placements based on their skills and interests, and work side-by-side with local people on community-led initiatives. Volunteers work with infants and disadvantaged children, teenagers, adults, the elderly, and people with special needs like HIV/AIDS or mental or physical disabilities, with environmental and conservation and animal welfare causes.

“Many people are searching for a way to really make a difference,” says Sarah Comitale, Executive Director of ABV.  “We give people the change to discover that volunteering overseas is no longer just a dream, but something they can actually do.”

An A Broader View program includes orientation with in-country expert staff.  Participants are provided room and board with a local host family and given project support and briefing which provides insight into the culture and community where they volunteer. Volunteers pay their own airfare and a U.S. tax-deductible program fee to A Broader View Volunteers to cover all in-country expenses.
