Three teams from Amsphere, the delivery assurance and software testing consultancy, have recently completed the three peaks challenge for charity. The challenge includes climbing the three highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales. The teams were raising money for Amsphere’s charity of the year HOPEHIV.
“Amsphere raise money regularly for charity. As an organisation, we choose to make a difference in the society in which we live and believe it is the responsibility of both individuals and the business to give back to those in need” commented Ricky Shankar CEO Amsphere. “I am very proud of what we have achieved, raising nearly £20,000 so far this year for a very worthy cause.”
Amsphere’s support of HOPEHIV is particularly focused on the Malawi Kids’ Club programme. HOPEHIV have worked with the Salvation Army in Malawi since 2004, pioneering psycho-social support activities in Bangwe Township in Blantyre using the UNAIDS-endorsed Masiye camp model from Zimbabwe.
In 2005/6 these activities were rolled out into seven new rural communities in Malawi (Osiyana, Masenjere, Namasoko, Lemani, Migowi, Chiringa and Mlambala).
The program has already mobilised the community to take responsibility for their orphans and contribute to their schooling and housing needs. The children attending the club have seen improvements in their quality of life, leading to request being received from other villages for clubs to start in their areas.
