FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Jul 07, 2008 – NATIONAL PARK, New Jersey - Shamoozal.com is proud to present the “NES Marathon for Child’s Play,” a live 24 hour event in hopes to raise money for charity.

Beginning July 11th at 12PM EST, the event will see Shamoozal staff members play and complete as many Nintendo Entertainment System games as possible over the course of 24 hours which will be streaming live through ustream.tv. The team plans on tackling classic titles such as Metroid, Contra, Kid Icarus, Castlevania, Megaman 2, Punch Out!!, and the original Super Mario Brothers trilogy, among plenty of other proven favorites.

“There’s something about retro games that people still can’t get enough of,” says site owner Phil Summers, “and we’re hopeful that pairing up these legendary games along with a great cause will help show that there are plenty of people who love games and are willing to give back to the community.”

During the event, the team hopes to raise donations for Child’s Play, a charity that specializes in distributing video games, toys, books, and cash to children’s hospitals across the country.

The team will be playing the titles on an original Nintendo Entertainment System which is over 20 years old.

“We’ll be playing these games on the original NES hardware, and some of the beauty of this challenge will be from doing battle with the NES itself. As we all know, the NES is an unpredictable piece of hardware, and who knows when a game could freeze, reset, or become downright unplayable. I could only imagine what would happen if the system restarted at the end of Ninja Gaiden.” Summers said with a laugh. “We don’t care. We’re going to do it on the system that started it all.”

Shamoozal.com was created over two years ago with a heavy emphasis on Flash cartoons, and geek culture. The latest series, GFGAMES, offers an animated look into gaming culture.
