PRLog (Press Release) –
Jul 07, 2008 – Yarmouth Seafest is a celebration by the sea, and has spanned four decades since the inaugural festival in 1979. It was a spin off of the Western Nova Scotia Tuna Festival, and many of the events featured in the first celebration are still a big part of Seafest traditions today such as the Seafest Pageant and Main Street Parade. This year, Seafest will be held from July 16th to 27th, and has joined forces with the Yarmouth Waterfront Parade of Lights and the Yarmouth and Acadian Shores Lobster Festival to become bigger and better than ever.
For Seafest 2008, activities will include some traditional events as well as new additions to the festival. Events include the Parade of Lights, Cooks Chowder Cook-off, Children’s Parade, Shuck Show and Savour Lobster Eating Challenge, and the 1st International Yarmouth Cup Shriners Sailboat Challenge as new events. Also keep an eye out for the Main Street Parade, Rum Running Races, the Seafest Pageant, Lighthouse Day and many more traditional activities.
Also new for 2008, Seafest has launched a website: www.seafest.ca to allow the public easy access to the Seafest Schedule and all important Seafest information. A Seafest Group was also started on Facebook to further involve the community in the festival.
