Jul 07, 2008 – The town of Yarmouth is buzzing in anticipation of the First Yarmouth Cup International Shriners Sailboat Challenge. The event is scheduled to take place during Seafest, with boats arriving on the Yarmouth waterfront as early as Tuesday, July 22nd. The public is encouraged to come down and take a look at the magnificent boats as they arrive for what is sure to be the beginning of a very special annual event.
The boats sail by the full moon, and the area is excited to have the first race fall right in the middle of its Seafest.
The boats will be leaving Provincetown Massachusetts USA at 8:00am Saturday, July 19th. They will begin to arrive in Yarmouth late on Monday, July 21st, with most of the boats arriving on July 22nd. Various size classes will be used to organize the boats into different categories.
Canadian teams are also welcome to enter, with proceeds from their entries going to the Shriners Hospital in Montreal. Proceeds from American entries will go to the Shriners Hospital in Boston.
