Ohio Catholic Radio Features RENEW International’s Theology on Tap

PRLog (Press Release) – Jul 07, 2008 – Catholic parishes across the nation are faced with a pressing pastoral concern: how to reach out to and increase church attendance and involvement of young Catholic adults.  The issue is so prevalent, Ohio radio talk show, “Catholic Mornings”, recently dedicated a portion of its morning show to the subject and interviewed a young adult ministry team member from RENEW International’s Theology on Tap.

Theology on Tap offers an innovative solution to the lack of young adults in the Catholic ministry. The process enhances a local or regional young adult ministry by offering opportunities for young Catholics to join together and take part in events designed to appeal to their specific needs and wants. Young adults are invited to listen to dynamic and knowledgeable speakers, discuss relevant spiritual topics, and get to know one another in comfortable, young-adult friendly settings such as restaurants and bars. Theology on Tap was established in 1981 in Chicago as an opportunity for parishes to focus on one of the most overlooked groups of people in the Church: people in their 20s and 30s. Since then, hundreds of groups around the country and beyond have utilized the program as an effective invitation strategy.   Since 2007, RENEW International and the Office of Young Adult Ministry in the Archdiocese of Chicago have collaborated to enhance this young adult outreach and expand its presence.
