PRLog (Press Release) –
Jul 07, 2008 – With environmental concerns at the top of the socio-economic and political agendas, leading freight forwarding company, GBS Freight, urges companies to consider the benefits of sea freight when making their transport decisions.
At the moment the vast majority of cargo in the UK is moved by lorries. This produces CO2 emissions which contribute to global warming and also increases congestion on our already overburdened roads.
‘Sea freight is a much more eco friendly way to transport goods‘, says a spokesperson from GBS Freight. ‘But at the moment only about 7% of all UK cargo is transported by water. We urge businesses to consider sea freight when assessing their transport options.’
As well as being better for the environment, sea freight is also much safer than road transportation.
‘It’s better for people and better for the planet- we really think that a higher percentage of goods should be moved by sea’, says GBS.
