Fifi (from children’s TV show Fifi and the Flowertots) will be meeting and greeting people in the centre of Harpurhey as she makes a special guest appearance at the grand opening of Moneyway’s new premises.
Manchester’s favourite song-writer and comedian Dom Collins will be hosting the launch event at the bank’s new site in the North City shopping centre on Saturday June 28th, overseeing a host of other attractions.
The bank is going back to its roots by moving to Harpurhey after 11 years based in the Royal Buildings in Moseley Street in the city centre, and staff are keen to immerse themselves in the local community.
Dawn Messenger, manager of the branch, said: “We have been based in the Royal Buildings for 11 years, and we are a very successful branch. We have a lot of loyal customers, and our chief executive Gary Jennison decided that we deserved a more prominent presence.
“At present, we’re on the third floor, and he wanted us to have an eye-catching, branded branch that would draw customers in.”
Dawn said: “Harpurhey is exactly the sort of community where Moneyway, or Secure Trust Bank as we were known then, started out. When we relocated to the city centre, some customers didn’t want to make the journey, but our grand opening event is a great opportunity for customers past, present and future to come and see what we have to offer,” she added.
In addition to the song-writing comedian and the lovable children’s TV character, Moneyway has arranged for free face painting and balloon modelling to keep youngsters entertained while they wait to have their photo taken with Fifi, who will be appearing between 10.30am and 3pm.
Dawn said: “It’s not all about children though, we’ll be giving away £50 of High Street vouchers every hour, on the hour, between 11am and 3pm, and we’ll also be giving a free digi-box to the first 10 people who sign up for a OneBill account.”
The OneBill from Moneyway account sees the bank take responsibility for all its customers’ bills, negotiating discounts and better deals, and ensuring they are paid on time.
Dawn added: “We are really looking forward to unveiling the new branch in Harpurhey. The area has enjoyed a lot of investment and attention recently. We’ll be located in a busy precinct with its own market, and there is a fantastic sense of community. Moneyway puts a lot of emphasis on being community spirited so we can’t wait to get involved in local activities,”
Mr Jennison said: “The team at Manchester have made it one of our best performing branches. We think that by giving it a more prominent and dramatic location, right in the heart of our customer-base, we will welcome even more customers into the Moneyway fold and make a real difference to their money management.”
